Well Here I Am Again!

Well here I am again! A year ago, it came time to renew my WordPress subscription. I hadn’t posted in my blog for a while, but I thought paying the fee might motivate me to start blogging again. As you can see, it didn’t work! When I used to blog many years ago, I didn’t seem to have too much difficulty finding stuff to write about. The news last year was totally dominated, from my point of view, by Brexit, to which I was passionately opposed. I found the whole atmosphere profoundly demotivating. At the end of the day, Remainers like me seem to have lost the argument. The landslide Tory victory was a final kick in the teeth, and I greeted 5 years of the Conservatives under the odious Boris Johnson with nothing short of dread. It really felt to me as if the lunatics had taken over the asylum.

WordPress recently wrote to me saying that the card from which my subscription was to be collected had expired, and I am faced with the same dilemma as last year: should I give blogging another go, or not? The UK has left the European Union. We are supposedly in the transition period, during which our fabulous Tory Government was to negotiate, in a ridiculous timescale, our future relationship with the EU. This was depressing enough, but now we have COVID to contend with! I recently started a journal to record for myself what a bizarre period this is becoming. After much deliberation, I finally convinced myself that I could justify buying a iPad Pro, which is a pleasure to type on, and will be even better when I get my magic keyboard at the end of the month.

Having written this, I have decided to give blogging one more go. Wish me luck!
